A Novel Within Me
I have a novel in me, yes I know it's there somewhere,
with awesome plot and characters to match.
The words all float around me only just outside my grasp -
a killer line I'm sure's about to hatch.
Now Ian Fleming scored a beaut with "Skaken and not sirred"
I really need a power punch like that!
Would "Dance me to the moon!" suffice with just a little tweak,
or like my others leave the novel flat?
I rang a publisher, he said, "just show me what you've got."
With shaking knees I popped it in the post
I covered all divisions such as name, address and such,
the title, "Golden Staircase" uppermost.
My chest began to rise and fall with every anxious breath,
awaiting news - success or otherwise.
If Bob the publisher says yes, I swear the earth will move!
If not, the earth will echo with my cries!

Oh, wow, Wendy - you're on fire this week!!
It's great! (I'm still pondering Maureen's prompts - but hopefully something will surface!
)
I wrote a novella once - started it in the early 90s - then left it alone for about 20 years and didn't finish it until a couple of years ago. But it's still in the shoebox - not at the publishers!!
Then I started a novel about 3 years ago - got 10 chapters written and that's where it has stayed, waiting for renewed inspiration! Poetry is SO much easier!!!
Cheers

Oh well done Wendy - you have made terrific use of the prompts in this one and I love the story line - very cohesive. Nicely crafted
