Haiku
Hope I have the rules correct. Came up with this after looking at the pics for a while.
Might have a go at a sonnet too Maureen, if the muse agrees!
Sweet Summers of peace,
Serenity not savaged
By Winters long War.

Oh well done Ron - I like it - I'm also reading into it a reference to the Vietnam war although that may not have been your intent. That works well, as well as the ravages of winter ... the seasonal hook.

Thanks Maureen, yes your reading of it being about the Vietnam war was correct. ‘The long Winter of war’ so to speak. Vietnam of course hadn’t known peace for many years.
I suppose the seasonal interpretation could fit too, but I hadn’t written it with that in mind.
Cheers
Ron.

Thank you Catherine and Terry for your feedback, much appreciated.
Certainly a challenge finding the words to suit the syllable count.
Cheers

Excellent, Ron! I immediately picked up on your war reference too - in fact I'm cogitating with something similar for my half-written sonnet!
Watch this space!
Cheers

Thanks Shelley.
Looking forward to reading your sonnet, I have been thinking of doing one as well, but not past the head scratching at the moment!
Cheers
