Yep. If they are Bush Poet's then they have a right to air their views on Bush Poetry. If it's a silly argument for sake of arguing (especially against the vein of Australian Bush Poetry), then I am sure they would write it in a way where they can put it across not just to a handful of Poets but also to fans of Bush Poetry who make up a large percentage of our membership base. We are all writers, so I would be happy to publish their views to a wider audience.

And it would be great to have SOMETHING submitted from others than just the few who support the magazine each issue.

I've posted over a hundred and fifty bush poems on this forum over the years Neil ,how many have you posted ?
Where is the post in which I have claimed or stated or tried to display any requirement for an intellectual approach to do bush poetry ? I'll help you out, there is none.

If you are interested in doing the maths Neil, work these out.....

How many of my posts are nothing more than a word of encouragement or praise to urge people on , compared with how many where I supposedly argue ?
In fact I take a bit of time reading through the posted poems and putting on small replies that I hope might boost people's confidence ?
Do you do that very often Neil?

I am pleased to report that these statistics will not demonstrate that I consistently wish to argue. How does anybody say with confidence what it is that I wish to do ?

The world of poetry is way bigger than one website, Nev.

I prefer to take the time out to run workshops around Australia with adults and children. It's called a hands on approach. Face to face. I don't post many poems here because people have had a history of stealing and performing my work over the years.

But put whatever spin you wish on it. I really can't be bothered arguing over waffle. I only come here in my role as Editor these days. But when I see Australian Bush Poetry being compared to maths and science, well it boils my blood. After 25 years of writing, performing and organising, I guess I still don't know as much as others.

With that I wave the white flag to you, as I really can't be bothered coming here and being insulted about my lack of contribution to Australian Bush Poetry. I will just stick to the magazine and leave the website to others.

My apologies

Neil

Not to worry, Heather, sometimes you just have to shrug your shoulders, raise your eyes to the heavens and say “Oh well…”

Meanwhile, back in the world of rhythm and rhyme: metre is a mathematical concept, and poetic metre is a unit of measurement, so mathematics is at the very heart of bush verse (and music, for that matter). If you take the mathematics out of bush verse it’s not bush verse any more…ssshhhh…did I really say that out loud?
