SHADOWS

Post by Rimeriter » Fri Aug 17, 2012 1:25 pm

"G'day" Maureen,

In response to your poem Shadows

Two Shadows.

There were two shadows unknown to me,
cast on a beach alongside the sea.

One was not seeing the sun or the sand.
They were both walking almost hand in hand.

Rippling along as they rollicked together,
enjoying the wind and pleased by the weather.

Sometimes nearby. Sometimes apart.
Gambolling about and creating art

by leaving their shapes that sometimes were tall
but became condensed, when caught by a sea-wall.

They danced on the tide-mark. Disappeared in dark shade.
Left strong emotion wherever they played.

Spectators gazed longingly at oneness of mind

as these shadows together, confirmed a belief,
that an affliction is much more than a thief,
for one shadow was cast by a young shepherd dog
the other, the master - when he sat down from a jog,
then removed his dark glasses.

One could see he was blind.

Re: Homework w/e 27/08/12 - SHADOWS

That's a beautiful story - need the tissues now

Not sure what relevance it has to the two pictures posted up as homework prompts though :? Am I missing something???

Perhaps just post it in the general poetry section as a new topic and give it its own posting - so that people get to read it otherwise it is just attached to mine here and could fade into obscurity

Cheers

Mate, I am unaware of homework pictures. !!

Just responded to the homework heading - Shadows
and assumed posting to the topic in the same thread was 'the go'.

I'll edit and cancel it.

Pleased you enjoyed it.
Jim.

"Thanks" Peely,
I tried late yesterday without success to delete it.
Back today and magically it stands alone.

Hi Jim - I am shocked you haven't investigated our homework prompts :o  :( Just go and click onto the prompt for Homework for the week ending 27/08 in the writing workshop and see what you see.

They go up every fortnight usually on Mondays and I try to vary them a bit. Sometimes it is a photo, other times words or phrases, maybe a limerick or a ballad - whatever I think of at the time.. I would love you to have a go at them sometime. Just a way of trying to spark a bit of inspiration amongst us when we are a bit low on it - as happens. No pressure, just a bit of fun and hopefully some good work comes from it. Actually a lot of good work has come from it already, and the comments are always kind.

Cheers

Maureen

Maureen, (may I be a bit bold ?) (we do not know one another very well)

I am shocked that you are still able to be shocked !!!
(No offense meant.)

Really, I have looked in the past. However, as you say, prompts for them what needs it.
Rarely do I need prompting to rhyme a few words -

Homework. Homework.
Well bugger me.
Homework. Schoolteachers.
Now my earnest plea.
Do not remind me.
Cast out of my mind
the troubles 'n problems
I'd always find.
No lemons or apples
for teachers from Jim.
But now, the canestick
was a fine friend for him.

Your perserverance and efforts must be applauded.
Jim.

G'day Jim

Not a problem at all. If a topic needs splitting, it is only a matter of messaging one of the moderators (myself, Manfred, Zondrae, Heather or Marty B) and we can do it for you.

"Thanks" again, John. (I should have remembered your first name before)

Old age and good looks go together. But recall - well that becomes a problem !!

It was one degree in South West Sydney last night, must 'ave been bloody cold in your neck of the woods ?

Jim.

It was a cool night here Jim, but due to the fact that there was cloud and rain it probably didn't get down as low as one degree.

G'day Rimeriter,

Yeah, I liked it. Brings memories back for me. I liked the lines - " as these shadows together, confirmed a belief, that an affliction is much more than a thief," which appealed to me.

I will read some more words you've written mate........

Best of luck

PHIL
