Been a while.
Hi all. It's been an age since I posted anything but in the interim I have managed to put pen to paper ( very occasionally ) so may as well share a few. Apologies if some have been posted previously. I've been a bit slack in dating the pieces so the old and the newer share the same page lists and my memory and I don't always walk the same path these days. I wrote a shorter version of this years ago and recently added a few verses.
Wazza
Where To Now?
I wrote a poem about some fishes
plated up looked quite delicious.
but they slipped and slid right off the dishes
before my poem was done.
I read the poems of others
to find inspiring thought
Shakespeare Wordsworth Milton
my endeavours came to naught
I turned my mind to Hemingway
for words that would instil
to Kipling Poe and Tolkien
but efforts came to nil
again I took my pen in hand
to try to make it right.
I wrote of whales and boats with sails
through morning noon and night.
I searched the sands on beaches far;
the waters deep and cool,
to find the words that radiate
like ripples on a pool.
I travelled over land and sea.
I searched each village small.
I asked of kings and commoners
for phrases to enthral
but for all my tribulations
no heights did I ascend
left searching unrequitedly
for words yet to be penned

Welcome back, Wazza! We've missed you. Great to have you posting your poetry again - keep it up!
Love the lament for lost words ... I think we can all relate to pen in hand, blank sheet of paper ... all the gear and no idea!!
Cheers

Great to see you here again, Wazza. This is a most relatable topic - the frustration of when inspiration halts for a while is immense!

Re: Been a while.
Have only very recently been writing again and even then sporadically. I appreciate your welcome backs.

Re: Been a while.
Hi again. I have just had another look at the 'other users' info. I thought it was a non member posting area but I see it's for archived material. Apologies for that.
