The Bathroom Taps

The Bathroom Taps

(she says)
"The bathroom taps are leaking dear
We must get something done
The cupboard's rotting down the rear,
Where all that water's run.

This vanity is horrible,
The frame near rotted through.
Replace it now, that's sensible,
With something good and new.

And since the twins are growing up
Perhaps we'll get a double
So both can do their making up—
Would save a lot of trouble."

To fit it in's the problem though,
The space there's far too small...
I know, we'll take the bath out so
It fits along that wall.

So then a corner bath will do
Across the other side
With built in spa, shower recess too,
(Took no time to decide)."

(he says)
"And now we need a plumber in,
A builder, tiler too;
The hardware store's deliverin'
A heap of stuff that's new.

Next time I'm going to take it slow
And think it through perhaps;
Ten grand's an awful lot of dough
To fix two bathroom taps."

Thanks for the comments everybody.
Yes Ross, it has been some time. I've looked through the members' list, heaps of new names, but a lot of familiar ones too, and a couple missing as well. Has Bernie passed on? The last couple of years have gone somewhere with various ageing problems and keeping up with our ever increasing family—12 great-grandchildren now!
But I've been writing frequently, though not all bush poetry.
Regards,
Tom.

Enjoyed the read Tom - doesn't the new bathroom scream at the rest of the house now? What colour paint are you going to use ?

It wasn't my experience Maureen, it was actually my younger son—and they have since sold the house. Saves painting I guess!

Great poem Tom - and why wouldn't you do all of that to replace the taps???? Makes sense to me!! ;)

No, Bernie is still going strong over on the bushverse site - pop over and say Hi to him.
The site died down a lot for awhile as Ric didn't have time to spend on it, and he closed off new members, but he has since re-opened the membership, and it is starting to pick up again. Bernie has been religiously posting his poems, and a weekly topic to keep it going, and it is great to see him now getting more feedback.
