A WELL KNOWN COMMODITY

A WELL KNOWN COMMODITY

You put it where your mouth is, you say “it’s what I want”,
and though it isn’t everything, it’s never nonchalant.
You give other folk a run for it to show you’re not outsmarted
while fools who may possess it find ownership soon parted.

You can’t take it with you when your plug’s pulled from the socket,
plus, very likely it will burn a large hole in your pocket,
it can’t buy you love but, some say that it talks,
“Show me it” cry others, as if it flows from bottles without corks.

It doesn’t grow on trees and like manure, it’s no good until it’s spread,
but there’s a strong suspicion that to evil it is wed.
There’s another rumour it’s sometimes known as “Bags”
and yet another states “Time is”, as another of its tags.

Its been around for centuries yet, time is much more richer
however, try and borrow some, and soon you’ll get the picture,
look after it and you may find it creates milk and honey,
just what is this commodity, of course I speak of money.

That's a good imaginative variation on a theme. :)

Thanks Neville

It's the homework topic (Money) for the writer's group I've recently joined.

Hi Jeff ... nice one! They say it can't buy you happiness but I wouldn't say no to a bit more of it.

Same here Wazza. I've never had enough of it to test out any of the theories.
