The Chain
The Chain
Descending dreams of darkness douse
Responsive light of a laughing house,
A whirlpool, trapping seeds of doubt
So sadly does all logic flout.
Ascending then as gliders soar
On thermals rising evermore
As spirits lift in stark contrast,
A touch of Einstein from the past.
A pendulum of emotions swing,
The balance on a fragile string
To deal the cards in pokers game
Of life, that calls the jokers name.
To gift so many, endless mirth
Highlighting values of ones worth
That should be worn with winners flair!
But sad the game is solitaire.
The comedian, should walk tall
But troubled at the curtain fall
Will oft’ in silence bear the pain
Of feeling, trapped by black dogs chain!

Re: The Chain
I could be wrong, I assumed that it is about bipolar. It is a difficult subject to do in bush poetry. Goodonya Ron.

Re: The Chain
Matt,
Just need that little squirt of W.D40 every now and again,
and 'tis much more fun playing with words than mud!
Thanks mate.
Neville,
yes, bipolar/depression, I read a while back how many comedians surprisingly suffer such things, although being able to make others laugh.
Also thanks for the Robert Frost quote you put up a while back, it has given me another angle of looking at writing poetry. Profound to say the least, or that's how I took it on board.
' A poem is never a thought to begin with. It is at its best when it is a tantalising vagueness. It finds its thought and succeeds or doesn't find it and comes to nothing.'
Robert Frost
Thanks Nev.

Re: The Chain
Goodonya Ron, Robert Frost was a great poet and had a lot of very insightful things to say about writing poetry. I'm glad to see that he has inspired you.

Re: The Chain
Thought provoking Ron, so much so I revisited the words. Yes, I like this one!
