AUTUMN REFLECTIONS

Post by Jeff Thorpe » Thu Apr 24, 2014 7:41 pm

A poem I wrote a few years ago which has been brought to mind with the change of seasons. May even have posted it in the old Forum.

Autumn Reflections

Autumn is upon us and it’s time most folk declare,
the leaves have started falling and there’s a nip in the air.
I can really feel the change, my scalp’s devoid of hair,
wonder where my beanie is, it must be here somewhere.

Woke up cold this morning, it’s made me quite aware
that yes, a change of season means there’s a nip in the air,
better change the doona, it’s better to prepare
or face cool consequences that might signal despair.

There’s no other time of year in fact, that can compare
to what we’re seeing now when there’s a nip in the air,
lovely autumn colours, trees showing all their flair
before the dark of winter when all their limbs are bare.

So, let’s enjoy the moments of this March to May affair
and spy on nature demonstrating there’s a nip in the air,
then thumb our nose at winter, the time when we prepare
for when the springtime comes with renewal and repair.
