THE LORD WILL PROVIDE

Post by Jeff Thorpe » Thu Jan 15, 2015 4:03 pm

THE LORD WILL PROVIDE (OR WILL HE NOT)

I’ll be first to be in awe of what the Lord’s provided,
wonders of the world that he created
but, there are many things he missed or on which was undecided
and these, I feel are practices that need to be debated.

Lord, if you’re up to it, I’d like some intervention,
maybe with your help we’ll see more harmony in place,
or perhaps you’ve weighed these up and opted for abstention,
as typical too hard basket sorts of case.

So here’s the list of irksome acts that I feel need addressing,
earth shattering they’re not, though clearly they cause ire,
eradicate this lot Lord and indeed, you’ll get my blessing,
then from off my soapbox I’ll retire.

Number one incenses me and others too I’m sure,
dog walkers who don’t pick up the doo.
I stepped on some recently and Lord, forgive me, but I swore
and wished on that dog’s owner a testicles tattoo.

Politicians, Lord I guess you’ve given up on them,
greatest question evaders in the business,
always ever willing, the previous government to condemn,
a species history shows, forever stained with slickness.

Airlines with their scandalous on line booking fees,
that A triple C seem powerless to restrain,
charges even dearer should you travel overseas,
passengers are broke before they step on to the plane.

Oil companies, they’re the ones who take us for a ride
strange, when the world price of oil is going down,
here in good old Aus it’s on an upward slide.
Put that on the file Lord, it’s an outrage of renown.

Incessant interruptions for ads on television,
even Aunty’s got on to this act,
if ever there’s a practice that’s in need of excision,
Lord, this one’s right up there, that’s a fact.

Speed cameras there for “safety”, I suspect’s a load of crap,
they’re a bountiful revenue raiser, seventy mil in the last year,
a gift to your State Government with no need to wrap
public servant with job tenure, the speed camera cashier.

Merchants who add surcharges on a credit card transaction,
lump them with the airlines Lord, who said Ned Kelly’s dead?
This procedure’s experiencing a rapid chain reaction
and the poor long suffering customer’s forever being bled.

Another thing ’bout TV, will shows ever start on time?
That’s another bugbear we endure
another little irritant having a hasty climb,
what’s your opinion Lord, is there any cure?

Graffiti, that’s a hard one Lord, seemingly endemic round the globe,
a blight which is affecting all society,
it’s certainly a project worthy of a probe
hopefully, achieving some propriety.

Drivers on your right turning left without indicating,
happens frequently on a roundabout,
is it only me that finds this irritating?
Courtesy on the road’s gone up the spout.

That’s enough for one day Lord, hope you get my drift,
about these things that maybe you forgot
but, then again why, through our problems, should you have to sift,
i’ll wager none of these were in your plot.

I think right about now the Lord must be sorely vexed by what is going on down here - the big picture as it were. He's probably thinking don't sweat the small stuff just sort out the big issues but we seem incapable of doing that. Annoying as it is at least the dog doo is biodegradable unlike the empty bottles, coke cans and fast food wrappers that seem to festoon every street and outback highway in Australia.

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.

Just proves, Jeff . . . if there is a God he/she must be a corporate slut (who in his/her spare time enjoys graffiting whilst his/her dog shits everywhere).

:) So go ahead and tattoo his/her testicles

Good one, mate.

Cheers, Marty

Yes Maureen. Irresponsible humans who don't give a fig.

Glad you liked it Marty. The topic "The Lord will Provide" was selected by my writer's group and probably not one I'd have thought of myself.

Cheers, Jeff

G'day Jeff,

Yeah I see how society has given us a sever dose of repression. Very good Jeff I do like it.

I hope the Lord is listening and answers you prayers.

But seriously...testicle tattooing? A smiley face on each, or perhaps ying and yang?

Great read

Cheers
