SUCCESS

Post by Cropduster » Thu Feb 12, 2015 8:37 pm

SUCCESS

The smell of success is a pungent aroma
The sweat of the overworked slaves
Combined with the stench of expendable corpses
stepped over to rot in their graves

The sound of success is a harrowing chorus
Discords bring tears to the eyes
The moaning of starving and underpaid workers
The wail of their pitiful cries

The look of success is a gold Rolex wrist watch
Wiping the blood from its hands
While timing the shifts of the malnourished children
In sweat shops in faraway lands

The spoils of success are a harbour side chateau
A Roller, a Porsche and a yacht
Accountants insuring all tax is avoided
Taxation is for the 'have nots'.

We could include the part where they get awarded some Order of Australia for their " contributions " to manufacturing, retailing etc.

A good poem Allan, but it always seemed to me the harder I worked the more successful I became.

Yeah Vic, I agree with you, I am always amazed at how people...supposedly 'have not's' hate the rich...but really want to be one of them...

I don't have a problem with anyone working hard and making a success of themselves - good luck to them. There's difference between that and exploiting others to any end. We are very cocooned here. Thought provoking Allan.

Thank you one and all for your comments. I am glad my words can evoke emotional responses.

Heather - you are correct. It is not about being successful, but more about the exploitation of others.

I work supporting many people who live in socio economic disadvantage where they are not afforded the opportunities that many would take for granted.

Sadly we seem to pigeon hole people at all levels of the socioeconomic ladder, certainly there are people all the way along who exploit others in various ways...it is very hard to feel sorry for someone who is telling you how badly off they are and how wrong it is that successful people are successful, while they drag on a durry with the latest mobile phone in their hand.
I'm not having a go at you or your poem Allan, seems to me we all should be allowed to have and express opinions so who is to judge which is right and which is wrong?

From Rossco looking down on his yacht from "millionaires row" in Port Lincoln

Like the old quote "I want less corruption . . . or more opportunity to participate in it".

Whenever I want to even up the scales I just imagine them sitting on the loo !

Some things never change no matter how rich you are.
