THE BORED MEETING

Post by Cropduster » Fri Feb 27, 2015 5:22 am

THE BORED MEETING

Alone within a meeting room,
‘leven other vacant chairs.
Eleven missing bosses and,
‘leven missing vacant stares

Seems to me that I am early.
Either that or they’re all late.
Grab myself a cup of coffee.
Put my feet up and just wait.

Still the clock just keeps on ticking.
Five past one and no one’s here.
Must be other secret business
keeping them, that’s very clear

Ten past one and still no sign of
anybody turning up.
Typical of public servants,
guess I’ll have another cup

Quarter past and so I called one,
“Must be busy, I assume?’
“Get in here, fool!”, comes the answer,
“It's the other meeting room”.

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.

Heather - so that there was only seven syllables in the line (for consistency), or if you meant why were there eleven others, cause there were twelve chairs and my behind was already parked in one...lol

Thanks Catherine :D

Maureen - I wrote it while sitting in a meeting room in Parramatta waiting for a meeting where everyone else was indeed running late
