THE DAY THAT 'GRASSY' MEADOWS TOOK THE FIELD

THE DAY THAY GRASSY MEADOWS TOOK THE FIELD

I was feeling downright dirty,
and I must say pretty shirty,
The day that 'Grassy' Meadows took the field
It was said that he would cop a
hefty fine, and quite a whopper,
for flooring Pee-Wee Morton in 'The Shield'

But out he came, the 'thumper',
in his trademark thirteen jumper
A 'warning' must be all that Grassy got
But it wasn't very likely
that he'd get off quite so lightly
Confronted with this opposition lot.

It was from the very kick off
that they aimed to knock his block off,
'Twas payback time for Pee-Wee's busted jaw.
They just kicked the ball to Grassy,
that's when things turned pretty nasty.
Our team let out one big God Almighty roar.

Well they all ran straight at Meadows
like a pack of hungry dingoes.
They pounced as soon as Grassy caught the ball.
Like a pig, that Grassy squealed,
but the players didn't yield.
The tackle looked more like an all-in brawl

Some of Grassy's forward pack
had joined in on the attack.
Most were Pee-Wee Morton's footy mates as well
Referee just blew his whistle,
but looked on to say that this'll
be his just deserts, he should go straight to hell.

Well the fists just kept on flying,
Thought for sure Grassy was dying
Beneath the weight of all those burly blokes
One chap said ' I don't like fighting
But I really think this hiding
will continue till the bloody mongrel croaks'

When the pounding fin'ly ended,
and the fighting was suspended
They scraped old Grassy Meadows off the 'floor'.
He was taken on a stretcher,
any money I will bet ya'
Grassy won't be touching Pee-Wee any more
