THE COMPETITIVE EVALUATION DEBATE

THE COMPETITIVE EVALUATION DEBATE

The country needs new Submarines and word around the traps
was the deal was done and dusted, they’d be built by the Japs
but, now it seems from out the blue, what’s best for the nation
in terms of who builds Subs is “Competitive Evaluation”.
The fourth estate is all confused, referring to their notes
asking does this mean we’re back to calling quotes?

A South Australian Senator says the call will be by “Open Tender”
the PM phoned and told him so and Tony’s no pretender
though cynical observers may think there’s something sinister
occurring right before their eyes concerning the Prime Minister.
Strange that Subs have surfaced (and please pardon the pun)
just at the time his party has the PM on the run.

South Australia is the home of Aussie Sub construction
and new boats built by Japs would see industry destruction
so, “Competitive Evaluation” has entered the debate,
shore up support for PM before it is too late.
Defence Minister Andrews is staunchly preaching this” Evaluation”
unlike his predecessor, left behind when train left station.

Now the vote is over and the PM’s still on board,
did anyone expect that he would fall upon his sword?
On day two of the “new” Government that’s glistening
the weasel words are spewing fast to anyone who’s listening
leading the pack of these there’s “Competitive Evaluation”
prime contender for Gold Canberran aberration.

Very clever Jeff.

Gotta love those 'weasel words' - the spin doctors certainly know how to coin new phrases, or slight variations on existing ones.

The subs certainly surfaced just in time to safe the PM's bacon. All a bit to dodgy if you ask me.

Great read.

Thanks Allan. Even weasels would be embarrassed.
